Happy 2009 Everyone!

Here we are standing on the dance floor, just before the festivities begin! Kirk's got his microphone out and we're ready to rock this town with music selected from the best years. 70's and 80's.

And for the famous countdown at midnight, we can't forget the lighted ball dropping to announce 2009! We also had our countdown clock to make sure we didn't miss it.

And the aftermath..... I just had to get these pictures. I was amazed at the left over effects. But then again, it's not really New Year's if there's not confetti everywhere right? Not only did we have the standard poppers, but the balloons we had all over the house also has confetti in them so when they were popped for our balloon game or after the countdown, it was everywhere.



Kirk's bar was a huge hit too. He had just about every kind of soda there is, but he also had flavorings that you could add too it to spice it up a bit. You know kinda like QT. Then of course we toasted in the New Year with individual bottles of Martinelli's


We hope everyone that came has as good a time as we sure did. Nothing better than being with a bunch a friends and having a good time. Thanks for making the start of this New Year a great one!

Christmas 2008

So here are the before and after picts I promised. Hope you enjoy. We do have tours. JK




In all honesty, we didn't put the Traditional Red and Green up this year. But if we did this is what it looks like.

This was Kirk's new project this year. He wanted an authentic 1950's setting. So there you have it. (except for my stocking which was made in the late 60's)

And finally Fergus. Isn't he simply gorgeous? We finally finished putting everything up on the 13th. Kirk had to work that night, but the kids and I surprised him by finishing up Fergus and cleaning and putting away all the stuff these decorations come from. Can't remember ? Go back to the earlier pictures. We have way too much stuff for Christmas. In all fairness I did inherit most of it.

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas

And even feeling it too! The annual "find the perfect tree" event went off quite quickly this year. There is this farmers market on Power that has the best and the biggest trees anywhere in town and cheap for the size of the tree. It was a great little adventure and before we knew it we were loading up Fergus and bringing him home to make him all pretty for the Christmas season.
(oh by the way, did I tell you we name our trees each year? No? Well we do!)





Carmen sent this to me in an e-mail and I thought I'd just share my answers with everyone. :)

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? So gift bags for me. What could be easier, plop it in add tissue paper on the top and viola!

2. Real tree or Artificial? I grew up artificial, no really I did. JK Kirk always had the real thing so I'm glad to say we've been totally real for 18 years. Can't beat that wonderful pine smell in the house

3. When do you put up the tree? This year doesn't count, but Thanksgiving day or right after.


4. When do you take the tree down? After the time it takes to put it up I hate taking it down, but usually after New Years or Valentines, by St. Patricks day for sure cause the tree is no longer green.

5. Do you like eggnog? blech....tastes like the ice cream you throw away when it's sat too long on the counter.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? hmmm. Probably my ABBA album. (kids go ask your parents what a record album is)


7. Hardest person to buy for? everyone. I never know what to get people. I forget to quickly


8. Easiest person to buy for? I'd have to say Blake he's still young so he's easy to please

9. Do you have a nativity scene? I should go count them wait a sec.........I'm seeing 23 but I could've missed one somewhere. We collect Nativities and Santa's each year. I might post a couple of my favs

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Again I'm for easy and e-mail is easy. Plus I can count myself "GREEN" cause e-mail's saves trees. (except for the one in our living room) Yee haw

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I don't know if I ever got one that I would consider the worst. I'm not to hard to please, sparkley is always good.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? It's a wonderful life. Always makes me cry.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Okay girls did I do good or what? Kirk does most of the Christmas shopping, he says he usually likes to be done before December. I go with him for the little incidentals afterward. Have I told you I hate shopping?

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Only the ones I planned on using for the silly White Elephant gift exchange.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Oh yeah, reindeer poop. Well, thats what we called it so the kids didn't want any of our fudge.

16. Lights on the tree? Uhh, duh? Who buys a tree and then doesn't light it up??? Just for clarification though, white lights on Fergus, colorful on the tradition red and green.

17. Favorite Christmas song? My grandmothers arrangement of "Silent Night, Holy Night"
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Always at home, Kirk would not allow it to be any where else.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Alrighty here we go..... Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and oh course Rudolf.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? I inherited, a beautiful 2 foot angel. She is been on our tree for 5 years now. Before that was a Santa.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? I guess it's still morning by the time our kids roll out of bed.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? crowds. Again my distaste for shopping.
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? well Fergus this year will be donning shimmering gold and Burgundy with lovely seasonal fruit adorned with just the right amount of sparkling sugar. hee hee
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Our tradition has been turkey on Thanksgiving and Ham on Christmas.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? For everyone to find comfort and peace in this crazy world and have a wonderful season shared with family and friends.
